SUNDAY NOT BEST

A Sunday stall outside outside Waitrose in Witney in late July raised £138 , edging the branch towards £3.5K for the year.

Chair Dave Thompson says: "The sum was lower than average but Waitrose is only open from 10-4 on Sundays and a couple of nearby stores don't open at all so overall it's not too bad a figure."

Helping man the stall was Dave's wife Jean and long-serving volunteer Roger Watts.

Next up, the branch is all set for August 7 and a gathering in Faringdon to honour Roger and fellow long-standing volunteer David Barber, RNLI fundraisers for over 20 years.

Says Dave: "Our community manager Sally Hutton is travelling over especially to make the presentations.. It'll be a great afternoon."
