MARATHON CHEERS

83 people running for the RNLI at the London Marathon raised over £87,000 -- cheered on their way by Faringdon branch members at two of four special RNLI cheer-stations dotted round the course.

Tim Hayes and sister Steph were at Canary Wharf with Jean and Dave Thompson a few miles away at Shadwell.

Tim says: "Canary Wharf is a great location as the runners really needed a boost after mile 19. There were 16 of us cheering everyone who ran past. It was great to be there. "

Dave says: "The event as a whole is so uplifting and cheering on RNLI runners was extra special."

*** A late location change of cheer-station meant Dave and Jean ended up walking over six miles on the day. "Maybe I'll do the marathon itself next year," quipped Dave, "Just another 20 miles or so "
