LONG-SERVERS HONOURED

Long-serving volunteers Roger Watts and David Barber received well deserved awards and recognition at a special ceremony in Faringdon. on August 7.

Both have served over 20 years and, as a mark of RNLI appreciation, regional community manager Sally Hutton presented framed certificates, badges and handsome glass pieces.

Branch chair Dave Thompson said: "It was a super afternoon and a great turnout for two guys who've done so much for the branch over the years -- and remain committed."

The presentations were topped off by the cutting of a special cake brought by Sally and iced with a representation of one of the RNLI's latest vessels heading for action.

Said Dave: "Thanks go to Sally who drove nearly six hours there and back from her base to do the honours and secretary Denis Pope for making his home available to host the event. Thanks too for so many other branch members for coming along and making it such a memorable occasion."
